The problem
Recommendations, available files and viewing history often live in different tools. A title can appear in a catalog without being ready to play, and a request can succeed while episodes are still missing.
What I did
I define the product and visual direction, direct AI-assisted development, test the experience in my own setup, and review implementation and release evidence.
How it works
- Keep discovery, personal ratings and media availability distinct. Search by title, inspect seasons, and save progress without treating a request as a viewing event.
- Connect existing services through focused settings. Start with Omakase alone, connect an existing stack, or follow explicit steps to add optional Plex and storage components.
- Verify title identity, episode coverage and bounded media reads before reporting supported media as ready. Keep unavailable content and provider cooldowns visible.
- Use a notification-only update check with public release metadata. Hosts choose when to back up and upgrade their own installation.
What you can verify
- The private app is deployed and used with an existing Plex library. Its latest verification includes automated backend checks and desktop/mobile-width browser journeys.
- Anime supports AniList progress synchronization. Movies have explicit Plex history import and personal ratings; TV shows have season browsing, exact-ID inventory import and manual episode tracking.
- The screenshots use real titles and artwork with an isolated sample account. They show the actual app interface, with external actions disabled.
Project scope
Source remains private while the project is prepared for a possible open-source release. There is no public app signup or download yet. Omakase does not include media or replace Plex playback. TV acquisition is not automated, movie history import is explicit, and Apple TV progress remains manual. Physical-device, full-playback and assistive-technology coverage are separate from browser tests.
